Ignio is a student-driven initiative created to build a space for students, recent graduates, and all those interested in contemporary international development issues to learn through the community, share ideas through non-traditional methods, and facilitate connections within the international development studies community.

About Us

Ignio is a student-driven initiative created to build a space for students, recent graduates, and all those interested in contemporary international development issues to learn through community, share ideas through non-traditional means, and facilitate connections within the International Development Studies (IDS) community. It is run in collaboration with the Canadian Association for the Study of International Development (CASID) and with the support of the International Development Students’ Association (AÉDSA) at the University of Ottawa.

Submissions

Submissions

Ignio accepts submissions on a rolling basis and launches an annual call for submissions every fall. 

We accept 3 types of submissions: 

  • Published Voices (2,000 to 5,000 words): Academic and scholarly pieces, such as research projects, academic essays, and book or literature reviews. 
  • Reflections (750 to 2,000 words): Opinion pieces, reflections, discussion prompts on contemporary international development issues and/or discourse. 
  • Creative Connexions (max. 1,500 words): Flexible submission criteria. Possible submissions include poetry, photo essays, photovoice pieces, storytelling, animation, etc.
