Yasmin Rajwani

Yasmin Rajwani (she/her) is a recent graduate of the International Development and Globalization program at the University of Ottawa. She is particularly interested in sustainable development that involves diverse ways of knowing, creative culture, and the decolonization of the conventional academic space. Having been involved in the planning of the International Development Week conference over the past few years, Yasmin sought a way to continue the rich and engaging discussions and creations that take place throughout the conference weekend. Yasmin is thrilled to be a part of creating this accessible and creative forum for students to continue their journey of

learning, creating, and sharing insights on international affairs, social justice, and related subjects. In

her free time, Yasmin enjoys playing sports, singing, and Bollywood dance.

 

 

 

 

Madeleine Wesely

Maddy received her BSocSci International Development and Globalization with a minor in Conflict Studies and Human Rights from the University of Ottawa in June 2022. Her key areas of interest include inclusive business practices, global security, and equitable access to social programs. Maddy is currently pursuing her MSc International & European Politics at the University of Edinburgh in Edinburgh, Scotland.

 

 

 

Valeria Vela Mendoza

Valeria Vela Mendoza (She/Her) is a fourth-year International Relations and Criminology & Socio-legal undergraduate student at the University of Toronto. Some of her areas of focus include studying the impacts of research methodologies, social/grassroots movements, Global South cooperation and the criminal justice system. By working with Ignio, Valeria hopes to expand her knowledge about the stories of marginalized people and environments, while also delving into different topics of research with greater creative freedom. During her free time, Valeria enjoys reading non-fiction works, spending time with her cat Cookie and writing letters to her loved ones.

 

Mahanya Mallubhotla

Mahanya Mallubhotla (She/Her) is a third-year International Development and Globalization undergraduate student at the University of Ottawa. Some of her areas of interest include policy change and improvement, health education, project management, and food security. By working with Ignio, Mahanya hopes to expand her knowledge, while also delving into different topics of research. During her free time, Mahanya pursues Indian Classical dance and enjoys reading.

 

Nora Afifi

Nora Afifi (she/her) is an undergraduate student in her third year of International Development and Globalization at the University of Ottawa. Her key areas of interest include the decolonization of research, education, sustainable development, and governance systems. An avid learner at heart, Nora is eager to continue learning and sharing knowledge through her work with Ignio. In her free time, you may catch her reading and getting caught in rabbit holes across the internet.

 

 

 

Justine Pascual

Justine Pascual (she/her) is a fourth year undergraduate student at the University of Ottawa where she studies International Development and Globalization. She has a particular interest in labour migration, urbanization, and vulnerable populations. In her free time, Justine enjoys reading science fiction novels and creating playlists for her friends and family.

Adrienne Graham (She/her)

Adrienne is in her fourth year of International Development and Globalisation at uOttawa. She is currently working as a research assistant on a project exploring NATO burden-sharing and what it looks like in practice. Her interests include security and war, and human rights. After she completes her undergraduate degree she is planning on studying international criminal law.

 

 

Andrea Raymond (She/they)

Andrea is a fourth-year International Development and Globalization student at uOttawa. Her research interests include civil society in South-East Asia, governance in post-Soviet states, and food security in Canada's North. She is also a CO-OP Student at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

 

 

Rahul Balasundaram (He/him)

Rahul is a Tamil-Canadian young professional and a recent graduate with an Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences in International Development from the University of Ottawa. He currently supports research and programming activities within the International Program at the Migration Policy Institute and the Humanitarian Program at Grand Challenges Canada. He has previously worked and volunteered in migration, humanitarian and international development policy and programming through roles in various federal government departments and non-governmental organizations. Rahul is actively involved in research, policy and advocacy efforts in the broader areas of forced migration, human rights, climate justice, humanitarian action, and community and global development.

 

 

Rielly Young (He/him)

Rielly is a Public Administration at the University of Ottawa. He is currently a Research & Analysis Officer at Transport Canada’s Innovation Centre; his research interests include economic and technological policy.

 

 

Nicole Johnston (She/her)

Nicole completed her Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences in International Development and Globalization at the University of Ottawa in 2019 and has since been working at the intersections of international development and supporting feminist movements - in all their diversity - globally. She is passionate about gender equality, with a particular research interest in gender, peace and security, and will be continuing her studies at the University of British Columbia in September 2021 to pursue her Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs.

 

 

Danika Brown (She/her)

Danika is a third year International Development and Globalization student with CO-OP and a minor in Conflict Studies and Human Rights. Her research interests include human rights, security, gender inequality and international relations. She is currently employed with the Privy Council Office as an analyst.
