In 2019-2020, as part of CASID’s ongoing efforts to connect development researchers and policy makers, we launched the CJDS Policy Brief Series to highlight recent research published in the Canadian Journal of Development Studies (CJDS).

Working in collaboration with the International Assistance Research and Knowledge Division (PVA) of Global Affairs Canada (GAC), the briefs below (available in both English and French) provide a snapshot of analysis and policy recommendations derived from four recently published CJDS articles that cover a broad spectrum of development issues.

Le prix de l'adhésion institutionnelle de l'ACEDI est décerné chaque année à la meilleure dissertation originale rédigée par un étudiant dans le domaine des études en développement international. Le prix comprend une dotation de 1 000 $ et la possibilité à la dissertation lauréate d’être publiée dans la Revue canadienne des études de développement (RCED).

The CASID Institutional Membership Prize is open to any student, graduate or undergraduate, of a university holding institutional membership in CASID (See list of Institutional Members here).

The CASID Institutional Membership Prize is awarded annually to the best original essay by a student in the area of international development studies. The Prize includes $1000 cash and consideration of the essay in the regular editorial process of the Canadian Journal of Development Studies (CJDS).

To assist in assessing the essays submitted, the following guidelines have been adapted from those used by the Canadian Journal of Development Studies.

Le prix Kari Polanyi-Levitt est un concours annuel de dissertation de l’ACEDI auquel participent les étudiants des cycles supérieurs. Il est décerné chaque année à la meilleure dissertation originale rédigée par un étudiant de cycle supérieur dans le domaine des études en développement international. Le prix comprend une dotation de 1 000 $ et la possibilité à la dissertation lauréate d’être publiée dans la Revue canadienne des études de développement (RCED).

Pour évaluer les soumissions, les directives suivantes ont été adaptées de celles utilisées par la Revue canadienne des études de développement.

Je vous salue tous en ces temps difficiles.

Le 31 mars 2020, la Fédération des sciences humaines a annoncé qu'elle annulait le Congrès 2020 à l'Université Western. Cela inclut l'annulation du Congrès virtuel qui avait été initialement proposé comme alternative.

COVID-19 and CASID 2020 ANNOUNCEMENT
2020 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Western University, London, ON

Greetings to you all in these difficult times.

On 31 March 2020, the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences announced that it was cancelling Congress 2020 at Western University. This includes cancelling the virtual Congress that was initially proposed as an alternative.

CASID was exploring its involvement in the virtual Congress. The Executive Committee (EC) met on 2 April 2020 to discuss whether a virtual conference would still be tenable given the Federation’s decision.

Mise à jour sur la COVID-19 et ACÉDI 2020

Congrès 2020 des sciences humaines et sociales, Université Western, Londres, ON

Une deuxième séance d’information au sujet de la COVID-19 et les implications pour le Congrès 2020 a été organisé par la Fédération, le 13 mars 2020.

La Fédération déclare que:

…tout porte à croire que le Congrès ne pourra pas avoir lieu en personne comme prévu. 

Notre priorité est de trouver à présent des solutions pour permettre aux membres des associations de réseauter et de présenter leurs travaux de recherche, tout en protégeant la santé du public et des congressistes.

COVID-19 and CASID 2020 UPDATE

2020 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Western University, London, ON

A second special briefing on COVID-19 and implications for Congress 2020 was held by the Federation on 13 March 2020.

The Federation states: 

…all signs indicate that a traditional, in-person Congress, is becoming less and less likely.

Our focus now is on finding alternate ways for associations to meet and present their research, whileprotecting public health, and the health of Congress participants.

Further information is meant to be provided by the Federation during the week of 23 March 2020.
