COVID-19 and CASID 2020 UPDATE
2020 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Western University, London, ON
The health and safety of our members is of utmost concern.
We are closely monitoring the Federation’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A special briefing on the virus and potential implications for Congress 2020 was held by the Federation on 11 March 2020. A second briefing will be held on 13 March 2020.
For details on the briefings: https://www.congress2020.ca/novel-coronavirus-covid-19-and-congress-2020
As of today, no definitive decision has been taken by the Federation regarding Congress. We should have more information by next week.
CASID will continue to be part of these briefings and discussions. We are working on considering options for CASID 2020 in view of the potential implications of COVID-19 and Congress. We are holding off on releasing the draft program as a result.
We will provide updates to our members as soon as more information is available. In the meantime, if conference participants must make travel plans we encourage them to consider booking fully-refundable travel and accommodation if possible.
We urge all domestic and international members and CASID2020 conference participants to check the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) travel advisories regarding COVID-19: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/latest-travel-health-advice.html
International participants are also urged to consult the PHAC travel advisories as well as local travel advisories for more information.
All members and participants are asked to take note of the self-isolation procedures: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/coronavirus-disease-covid-19.html#faq
SSHRC has issued the following notice to researchers using SSHRC funding on the eligibility of travel fees for disruptions caused by COVID-19: https://www.sshrc-crsh.gc.ca/news_room-salle_de_presse/latest_news-nouvelles_recentes/2020/covid-19-eng.aspx
